DeWine Activates State Disaster Relief for 13 Ohio Counties Including Carroll and Tusc.

Carroll and Tuscarawas counties are among 13 Ohio counties approved for assistance through the State Disaster Relief Program following damaging severe weather.

Gov. Mike DeWine authorized the program on August 5. The complete list also includes Belmont, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Knox, Licking, Morrow, Noble, Perry and Van Wert counties.

The program allows local governments and eligible nonprofit organizations to seek reimbursement for qualifying expenses such as debris removal, emergency protective measures and repairs to damaged public infrastructure.

The assistance is generally used when storm costs are significant enough to meet Ohio’s requirements but do not qualify for federal disaster aid. It is not typically a direct payment program for homeowners or businesses. The governor’s announcement did not provide separate damage estimates for Carroll or Tuscarawas counties. Local governments will document their eligible costs before final reimbursement amounts are determined.
